SSI Beginners Diving Courses

SSI Open Water Diver Course

At Gorgonia Diving Centre we teach the SSI Open Water Diver Course. This is the most comprehensive of all Open Water diving courses, requiring a minimum of 7 open water dives while others only 4! It is designed so that the person at the end of the course cant just dive, but is comfortable and competent doing so!

During this course you will learn the basics of scuba diving, in the classroom, in shallow water and then in open water. You will learn lots over the 4-5 day course and will have great fun doing so! With the latest in training materials and with our friendly and professional staff you will get all the help needed to make your first underwater memories exciting and lasting ones!

SSI Open Water Diver Course is 290€ (including equipment hire, certification fee, divelog book and manuals).

For only 10€ you can have a personalised underwater photo CD with beautiful underwater photos of you to show to all your friends and family when you return home.

SSI Advanced Diving Courses

The SSI Advanced Open Water course is truly an ‘advanced’ course, unlike other courses by the same name. On this course you must complete 4 full speciality courses: Deep Diving, Night Diving, Navigation Diving and NITROX Diving.

The course takes between 4 and 5 days to complete and usually between 8 and 10 dives. You will need a minimum of 24 dives to complete the course.

Deep Diving: You will learn to dive to the absolute maximum diving depth of 40m, using specialised diving techniques and equipment, dive planning, diving gas calculations etc….

Night/Limited Visibility Diving: You will learn how fun night diving can be when done safely. You’ll see the different species and the different behaviours of marine life, which comes out at night….

Navigation Diving: On this course you will see how the pro’s find their way around underwater. Learning how to use natural and compass navigation makes all the difference for fun, safe diving….

NITROX Diving: Nitrox is a mixture of breathing gas containing more then 21% oxygen. With proper training it is widely recognised as the safest form of diving, while increasing your dive time…
